TPS4H000-Q1: maximum PWM frequency

Hello Team,

is it possible to switch the high-side switch with a 4kHz PWM frequency?

According datasheet we have a delay time for on and off max. 60us. 4kHz means 250us cycle time which should fit into this specification, right?

Any comments or feedback welcome.

Hi Josef,

Another thing to be concerned is the switching loss. Our FET is normally rated for 1kHz (2kHz max for some parts). Doing 4kHz is likely to overheat our part, but it also depend on what current the FET is running and the ambient temp as well (the Rdson loss contributes to it as well). You can try on an EVM with 4kHz and see what temp you are getting (using thermal camera) and if it will hit thermal shutdown.

Hi,

we want to control one channel with 4kHz PWM with maximum load of 130mA and typical 50mA. It would be great, if you are able to check the temperatur for these values on an evalboard.
