Hi!
I've examined the bq25886 charger IC's data-sheet, and searched e2e for a potential answer. The scenario I am trying to find an answer to is as follows.
bq25886 provides power to its SYS pin.
My understanding is that NVDC PowerPath will source this power from either the battery or from the input supply (Vbus), depending upon the depletion-level of the former.
If I were to run the system for a year, while connected to AC mains (via a usb charger-adapter), then disconnect the latter, will it run on the battery pack? In other words, I am concerned about adverse effects on the Li-ion battery pack, after a long period of it being intermittently recharged (by bq25886) to a high level, instead of its charge being periodically consumed.
Put another way: In the _above_ scenario, I'd like the batteries to act as only a back-up. Whereas typical use-cases involve battery-usage, the above may also occur.
Would I, instead, have to use a fuel gauge to disable charging (via CE)?
Thank you for any insight.
