BQ40Z80EVM-020: How to control the Q2 and Q3 FETs (CHG and DSG)

Hello,

If I want to charge and discharge a battery do I need to control Q2 and Q3 FETs? If so, how do I control them?

    Hello Jose,

    The CHG and DSG pins of the gauge are gate drivers with a charge pump to generate a floating reference. The gauge therefore controls when the FETs are open and closed. It can control this automatically as protection, and can also be controlled manually using BQstudio's built-in commands for testing. You can also add external control if you desire, but on the EVM its just the gauge.
