LM74720-Q1: Automotive transient protection ICs -ISO-16750 /ISO-7367

Part Number: LM74720-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM7480, LM74800-Q1, LM7480-Q1

Hi,

I already tried comparing the following devices  LM74720-Q1 , LM7480*, LM7470*  through the online tool.

Is my understanding correct that between LM74720 and LM7480 the only difference is the prior has low Iq

Functionally both are the same? and provides protections against load dump/surge/overvoltage/ reverse battery protection ?

LM74720 being a newer product --is it the recommended one?

Thanks,

  • Hi Aria,

You are right! Functionally both LM74720-Q1 and LM74800-Q1 are the same. The major difference between then is the low Iq offered by LM74720-Q1.

LM74720-Q1 has integrated boost converter based Gate drive topology (when compared to traditional charge pump based in that of LM7480-Q1) which enables lower Iq and higher gate drive strength. Yes, there should be no problem using LM74720-Q1.
