[FAQ] TPS6594-Q1: Why does my board work with ES1.0 units but not with ES2.0 units?

Part Number: TPS6594-Q1

This thread is relevant to TPS6594-Q1 devices:

Occasionally, a board will work with ES1.0 units but not with ES2.0 units. This is because early samples had certain voltage and current monitoring features disabled, this resulted in the pmic being more lenient in regards to datasheet violations. The enabling of these features in later samples may reveal that a board may not have met datasheet criteria. It is recommended in this circumstance schematics review and voltage/current measurements be taken to confirm that the circuit meets datasheet criteria. One common issue is a total capacitance (Both local and at Point of load) that exceeds the device's max total capacitance on LDO supplied rails.
