LM25141-Q1: IC power dissipation

Part Number: LM25141-Q1

Hi experts,

Can you help to share how to calculate the IC power dissipation in the calculation tool? What's formula are you using? Thanks.

Arie

  • Hi Arie,

The VCC current is effectively the DC current to charge and discharge the FET gates. The current is Icc = Qg*Fsw, where Qg is the gate charge at Vgs = 5V for each FET. The power loss is either Vin*Icc or VCCX*Icc, depending on whether there is an external source tied to VCCX or not.

Connecting to VCCX is advantageous from a power dissipation standpoint, particularly at high Vin or Fsw.

    Regards,

    Tim
