TPS53659: Power Sequencing

Hi Team,

I had a quick question on the TPS53659, TPS53679, and TPS536C7 Power Sequencing.

Can you confirm that it is okay for 3.3V for these controllers to come up before the 5V for the power stages? It’s my understanding that this is okay as long as the enable of controller is the last one being powered, is that right?

The customer mentioned some feedback that "- If the +3V3_VRD come up first before +5V_VRD, the controller shuts down the PWM pin due to it does NOT detect the power stage presented." So wanted to clear up any confusion.

Hi Delaney,

yes, you are correct. The key sequencing requirement is to make sure that the enable signals for the power stages are held low until all the input power supplies are up and stable.

Does the customer get any faults reported when the controller shutsdown?

Nope, they have not built the boards yet, still in schematic phase and want to make sure there should be no issues with the power sequencing.
