TPS62901: TPS62901/2/3 differences

Hello!

We are looking at the TPS62901/3 options as an alternative to TPS62902RPJR. When we look through these datasheets, they are basically identical – other than the continuous current ratings. The RDS(on) rating is the exact same for all 3 parts also, so why are there different ratings between the 3? Shouldn’t it just be one part with one rating?

Hi JDJ,

Yes only difference is the current limits on both FETs between the three parts even though the FETs are identical.

Out of curiosity, why are the current limits different if the FETs are identical?

Hello JDJ,

The reason on the applications, you may not want to use the 4.6A current limit for 1A application. You can over use the inductor.
