BQ76940: Interfacing external microcontroller to BMS in low side configuration

I am working on a BMS using BQ76940. Due to the unavailability of BQ76200 high side driver, I am designing a low side configuration. I want the BMS to be able to communicate with an external microcontroller when both the MOSFETs are turned OFF. How can I go about doing this?

Here are some reference materials that could give you possible ideals. Unfortunately all work arounds are costly and/or power hungry. The video I linked takes you directly to the section where we talk about communication when using low side FETs.
