BQ40Z50EVM-561: Why XCHG,XDSG,PF, SOV, SOT were always red?

Part Number: BQ40Z50EVM-561

  Hello,

       Months ago, there was the tough issue(COV, SOV, PF, XCHG, XDSG were set when the battery was charging and discharging at the same time) on our battery, and I had sunmit a case(got wayter is kind reply);

       we used BQ40Z50R1 in our battery, to analyze, I have to compare our PCBA and bq40z50evm-561;

       A couple of mouths ago, I had connected our battery pack onto BQ40Z50EVM-561, and I had read the xxx.srec from our battery(as below picture1), and programed this xxx.srec  into BQ40Z50EVM-561 to configure BQ40Z50EVM-561 with the same parameter with our battery;  the report as attached "demoboard  test report";  so that time(a couple of month ago) the BQ40Z50EVM-561 worked normally, COV, SOV, SOT, PF, XCHG,XDSG were all green...;

      But today when I reused the  BQ40Z50EVM-561, XCHG,XDSG,PF, SOV, SOT were always red, I tried to remove the battery pack away( power down), then connected the battery pack back onto BQ40Z50EVM-561(power on),  I tried several times,  but XCHG,XDSG,PF, SOV, SOT were always red;   the register and data memory as below picture;

      what is the reason? how to get BQ40Z50EVM-561 work normally?

thanks;

  • Hello Andrew,

    This is the same issue as mentioned previously on the posts about how the lower the Dsg Current threshold is the CHG FET will enable if there is a constant load and the charger has no hysteresis for charging and is always applying current. I cannot find the exact post right now, but it should be one of your previous posts.

    The Excel you sent looks like the EVM behaves the same as your boards, and all the behavior is as I would expect, it will slowly pulse more current into the batteries until SOV is triggered.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
