CSD16301Q2: Please help me choose a N-Channel Mosfet

Part Number: CSD16301Q2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD17381F4, LMG1020

Just have a look at the picture attached as below.

I want to find a suitable N-channel mosfet as the driver of the LD.

According to the SPEC, the MAX voltage of this LD is 1.8V and the normal voltage is 1.2V.

The MAX operation current is 200mA and the MAX switching frequency is 10MHz.

Would you please give me some suggestion?

Thansk a lot.

  • Hello Wu Shi,

Thanks for your interest in TI FETs. TI has not characterized our FETs at 10MHz switching frequency. Most of the applications I have seen switch up to 1MHz maximum. However, I have seen some of our FemtoFET devices used to drive a laser diode at 10's of MHz. In particular, I would recommend the CSD17381F4 as it has been used in this type of application. Gate drive is critical to achieve fast switching time to ensure the on time and duty cycle are adequate to produce the desired light from the laser diode. You will need to use a fast gate driver with strong drive current capability like the LMG1020 from TI. Please keep in mind that the MOSFET threshold voltage will vary which can change the on time and duty cycle of the FET. A device with lower threshold will turn on sooner and off later giving a longer on time vs. a device with a higher threshold voltage. You need to take this into consideration when designing your circuit.
