LM3578A: Specs

Part Number: LM3578A

Hello,

Can someone help me fill in this table please:

MPN MFR Function/Topology Max. Output Current Output-Input Type Output Polarity Output Voltage
LM3578AMX/NOPB TI xx xx ? Positive/Negative ?

Please select from the below values for the parameters:-

1) Function/Topology:-

Step Down, Step Up or Step Up/Down

2) Output-Input type:-

• Adjustable: Adjustable over a voltage range.

• Adjustable/Fixed: Can be either adjustable over a range of voltages or can supply one or more fixed outputs.

• Fixed: One or more fixed voltages

• Selectable: Outputs that can be set to one of several fixed voltages.

3) Output Polarity:-

Positive

Negative

Positive/Negative

I'd appreciate the help!

  • Hello Alexander,

Please note that the LM3578A is a very primitive device with a simple bipolar transisor on the output side and it only supports voltage control loop mode.

On the other hand it is quite flexible regarding the topologies that it can support.

    - Function/Topology: All of the following: Step Down, Step Up, Step Up/Down

    - Max. Output Current: 750 mA pulsed; can be increased by adding an additional external transistor (see datasheet page 16).

    - Output-Input Type: Adjustable

    - Output Polarity: Positive / Negative (with external transistor see datasheet page 18)

    - Output Voltage: 40V

Please see datasheet for more details.

    Best regards,

    Harry

  • Hello Harry,

Thank you!  For step down, what is the output voltage range?

  • Hello Alexander,

I am not certain if, and how far you could go below 2V.

Would this be necessary or are 2V good enough?

    Thanks,

    Harry
