TPS23753A: TPS23753A vs TPS23753, thermal resistance different

Part Number: TPS23753A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS23753,

Hi Team,

Customer is asking the difference of A and non-A difference, I found other post answer this question.

However, customer found their thermal resistance is different, so customer doesn't feel comfortable if our saying is correct or not.

Could any expert please help to confirm for me; that these 2 devices have exact same die but only ESD cell being improved?

If die size is same, why thermal resistance spec looks different?

Thanks!

Andrew

  • Hey Andrew,

Yes I can confirm they are the same. Increasing the surge protection resulted in increased thermal resistance --- there is more material inside the IC to protect it, so it makes sense to me that the thermal resistance is increased.

Functionally they are the same. They can try an AB swap with different parts if they're concerned.
