BQ79616-Q1: bq79616 BAT queries

Part Number: BQ79616-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ79616

Hi

I have two queries need your help.

1, cells connect as below, when the voltage of BAT is lower than VC16, can BQ79616 work normally?

2, How to calculate the working current of BAT in ADC detection and Dual daisy chain communication?

Thanks

Star

  • Hello Star,

We don't recommend having the battery voltage be less than the cell voltages. There are some internal protection diodes from cell 16 to the BAT pin that could conduct current if the voltage difference is too high.

For your second question - FYI the majority of the current goes into the LDOIN pin. You can use 30mA as a good estimate of total current consumption by the BQ device (including ADCs active and communications).
