BQ24253: Loss of power supply when removing usb-cable

Part Number: BQ24253
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24080,

Hey there,

I have a question about the functionality of these kind of charging chips. Let's say my system is powered on and I am charging a LiPo at the same time. Now I wonder what will happen if I remove the usb-cable. Will this lead to a restart of my system due to the short loss of power? What I mean is while charging and system run current flows from the power input to the battery and to the system. When I remove now the power input will this chip be fast enough to switch from charging mode to discharging mode, so my system will not have a loss of power (even for a short time)? Or do I have to take chip like the BQ24080, where the battery is also directly connected to the system?

Best,

Jonathan
