Hi Ti

I want to make a charger using the BQ25601.

It operates as Always On, and the battery is attached and detached.

Does the BQ25601 detect that the battery is attached and start charging automatically?
Or should I control it with I2C?

Hi Jeong,

On the BQ25601 charge is enabled by default. The IC does not detect battery connection, it will always attempts to charge. When no battery is connected IC will regulate the voltage of the BAT pin capacitor as if it is a small battery. Then when the battery is attached it will start charging automatically.

If you would like control charging with I2C charge can be enabled/disabled using CHG_CONFIG bit on REG01.
