BQ24800: Can BQ24800 be used to charge/discharge supercaps

Hi,

We are wondering if the BQ24800 can be used to charge 4 x 2.7V supercaps instead of batteries. It looks similar to another manufacturer's solution (LTC3350) so we were wondering if it could be a direct replacement to build a supercap based high current backup power system.

If not, then do you recommend another solution to charge a supercap bank? Thanks!

Hi Berkay,

BQ24800 can be used to charge supercaps, but I recommend getting an EVM to evaluate before commitment.

Thanks for the response. The datasheet is not very detailed. It does not even have a pinout table. Do you have a "classic" TI datasheet with typical applications? Also, can you please share the desing files for the EVM? Thanks.

Thank you. We have filled the detail request form. As for the design files, I have seen the EVM user guide but it greatly helps if the pcb files are available too. (İn Altium or other formats) Thanks!
