BQ78350-R2-DEVICE-FW: AFE HW event triggle setting!

Part Number: BQ78350-R2-DEVICE-FW

Hi ,

We use bq78350 as gas-gauge and get battery information with MCU through SMBUS , but found there are spikes event of ASCD and AOLD and would like to know the correct setting of ASCD and AOLD to avoid the spikes problem.  Accoring the technical manual og bq78350 , It's seems MCU should check the latch flag of ASCD and AOLD in SafetyStatus , and need set the latch limit to none > 1 right  (=1 is same as ==0) ?  but we need get the real ASCD or AOLD event quickly so the recovery delay should not to long ,default is 5s seems too long and the delay unit is second. How to get the real event as soon as possible when the real ASCD or AOLD event happen !

Thanks!

  • Hi Frank,

I am not sure I understand the problem description. ASCD and AOLD are hardware protections so they will trigger very quickly. Are you saying you want to be able to recover from these very fast?

What is causing the spikes that are triggering ASCD and AOLD?

    Regards,

    Matt

  • Hi Matt,

we found there was spike of ASCD and AOLD and want to avoid the problem in FW (MCU) but also can report the real ASCD /AOLD event quickly, that's what we want.

  • Hi Frank,

The ASCD and AOLD operation are described in Sections 3.6.1 and 3.6.2 or the TRM. See the table below for ASCD. You can adjust the ASCD Delay to help avoid it from triggering too quickly. The counter will still increment even if the event is shorter than the Delay time. The Recovery Time can only be set in 1 second units.

    Best regards,

    Matt
