Hi Team,

Currentaly I am using TPS549A20RVER in our design. Looking another part from TI e.g TPS548A20RVER as an potential alternate. In our current design PMBUS of TPS549A20RVER device has not been used.

TPS549A20RVER and TPS548A20RVER are compatible, except PMBUS function? Please explain in detail.

Can we use TPS548A20RVER in place of TPS549A20RVER in the existing design if PMBUS function has not been used?

Hi Vijay,

If the PMBUS is not used, all the PMPUS parameters will be set to TI default status.

For example:

The default switching frequency (Fsw) is pre-set at 400 kHz.
The default turn-on UVLO threshold is 4.25 V,
the default Soft start is 1ms...etc.

Are these default value acceptable for your design?

i Tahar,

As you know, we are not using PMBUS in the Design of TPS549A20RVER. So all the default parameters has been used. I believe the Default parameters which you have mentioned above will be same. Please comment

UVLO is the same,
The Fsw is adjustable using the mode pin.
Soft start are different, 4ms vs 1ms for 8A20.
PGOOD delay time is 1ms typical and max of 1.2ms in 8A20. vs 1.024ms, i am not sure if that maters really.
Power-on delay time is similar, 1.124ms
the EN pin activation is similar
