Hello,
Currently I'm testing the TPS92200D2. I have a question about the LED+ / LED- short protection and the sense-resistor open-load protection. When the LED+ / LED- short happened, the output capacitor would discharge through the sense resistor with huge current, it might result in the VFB higher than the VFB_OVP. the device shuts down after the auto-retry timer according to the datasheet description.
Assume the output voltage is 12V in normal work, when the LED+ / LED- was short, the output voltage would be implemented on the FB pin, which would be much higher than the Absolute Maximum Ratings of the FB pin. (Datasheet shows the ABS max voltage of FB is 7V). In this case, do you think it’s safe enough for the LED+ / LED- short operation. Similar case is the sense-resistor open-load operation. When it happened, the FB pin voltage is close to the output voltage, the overvoltage may destroy the device, Am I right?
BRs,
Luffy
