Hi,
Can i simply use the UCC28070A without any current sense synthesization...ie just disable it?...i appreciate the power factor wont be as good, but will it still give an output which is correct (vout)?

Hi Andrew,
Yes, if you disable the synthesizer, the PF will be quite poor but it will regulate the output.

Hi Andrew,
I don't have any data on PF with the synthesizer disabled, but it is still average current controlling so the input current wave-shape will by very poor. You can probably use the sim tool to give you an idea of the degradation. I'm not sure why you want to disable the synthesizer. Perhaps you'd like to substitute the synth signal with an external sense signal fed into the CSx pins? The synthesizer was provided so you didn't have to have those external components, but you can certainly do that if you chose to. In that case, you'll get PF correction as you would with other controllers which don't have the synthesizer.
