TPS2H000-Q1: Internal current limit for transiend current of load

Part Number: TPS2H000-Q1

Hi Experts,

I want to use TPS2H000-Q1 for a LED driving module.

The module include several LED drivers, LDO and Timer.

When I simulate them on pspice, I can see transient current about 1A~2A when start operation like attached image. (EN on, PWM first on etc...)

My question is that is it ok we limit this start up current?

Is the trasient peak necessary for operating?

Since the internal current limit of TPS2H000-Q1 is 1.6A (max).

  • 1st graph is I(Vin), 2nd graph is V(PWM).

    When V(PWM) rising, I(Vin) become 1A

  • Hi Dustin,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm not quite sure what is the V(PWM) signal, and it would be the best if you can attach actual schematics. Assuming FET got VS already, then inrush current is fine assuming it's limited by an external current limit resistor. It might caused by cap charging somewhere, but the current should not come from the part itself.

Also if thermal is the concern, then it should be okay as well as the duration of the 1A current is ~20-30us.

Please let me know if this answers your question.

    Regards,

    Yichi
