Hello team,

I received three questions from the customer.

1. The recommended RPROT (protection resistor) is 5kΩ.

Which is more suitable, 4.7kΩ or 5.1kΩ?

2. They would like to fix DIAG_EN, LATCH, and SNS without control.

DIAG_EN (fixed to High): Is it OK to connect the operating voltage 3.3V directly?

LATCH: Is it OK to use RPROT to connect to GND for setting auto entries?

SNS: Since the AD value is not monitored, is it OK to connect to GND with 1kΩ?

3. They would like to set the Current Limit to about 1A (0.7 to 1.3A).

Is 47kΩ the suitable value for RILIM? *They said it is difficult to read from the graph.

Hi Masa,

1. Both are Okay and 5.1kohm is better since it limits current even more during a reverse polarity event.

2. You are correct about the connections.

3. 47kohm will give around 0.96A with 20%-25% error range, so anywhere between 0.77A to 1.2A is possible for the actual current limit value.

How can I get an accurate reading?

Can you tell me how you got the reading of 0.96A from Figure 8-4?

Hi Masa,

Actually it's a bit off.

You can derive the Kcl value from the datasheet. For 47k, you can linear interpolate in between and get Kcl to be around 48.7. Then current limit will be 48.7/47 = 1.04. You can use the same method to linear interpolate the min and max value.

So, 47kohm will give around 1.04A, right?

Linear interpolation resulted in the following,

Min = 41.1/47 = 0.87

Typ = 48.7/47 = 1.04

Max = 59.1/47 = 1.26
