UC2842: UC2842 gate drive issue

I have designed a 250V @ 0.7A DC DC Push-Pull converter using UC2842 and UC2706. My converter has input of 22V to 35V. I have implemented the design using unitrode refference design which I have attached along this query.

My converter is working good and delivering the desire output but only under external cooling condition. Without external cooling the PWM controller (UC2842 ) is reaching more than 100 degree within a 5 minutes of running, What could be the reason ? Is UC2842 can capable of handling larger drive current ?. I have not get the operation of a part of the circuit from Unitrode reference design, which is highlighted in red colour.(In the attachment )  Please let me how this circuit helps in UC2842 high current operation.

Note : In my circuit I have not implemented the highlighted circuit.
