gate driver selection for boost application

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27614, UCC27531

dear team,

for an important project, I wanted to kindly ask your help for some additional gate driver recommendations based on below collected rerquirement.

BASIC requirements:

  • Gatedriver-IC for boost application
  • No „high“ isolation-voltage needed, just for direct switching of a low-side SIC-MOSFET (+20V/-3V) from primary 3V3-Gndp
  • As simple as possible:
    • No DESAT-mode needed
    • No special requirements on clearence and creepage due to low-side switch
    • Qg_tot in the range of 200nC à about 2A to 6A output current

Nice to have

  • Programmble UVLO (15-16V sek.)
  • Tolerant supply-voltage range (25V to -5V on secondary side)
  • Low propagation delay

could you kindly provide some recommendations?

Best Regards,
Brian

  • Hi Brian,

    Thank you for reaching out!

The following below are two device recommendations that I have for you:

    • UCC27614: Newest single channel low side gate driver
      • 10A /10A Source and sink current
      • Typical Propagation delay of 17.5 ns
      • Absolute maximum rating of -10V to 30V on input pins
      • VDD range of up to 30V

For this device I will also attach an FAQ for driving a SiC MOSFET using UCC27614

Another low side driver that would work in this application:

    • UCC27531: Single channel low side gate driver for MOSFET, IGBT, and SiCFET
      • 2.5A/5A Source and sink current
      • Typical Propagation delay of 17 ns
      • Absolute maximum rating of -5V to 27V on input pins
      • VDD range of up to 35V

For this device I will attach an application report for using UCC27531 with SiC MOSFET Application

If you have any further questions please let me know!

    Thank you,

    Kevin
