Hi,

We will test the ultimate current for TPS40055 for the laser driver, and the spec. request as below: input voltage: 24VDC, output voltage: 3-4VDC, output current: 25A or more;

and now we no need the consider the damage condition, how to modify the design to get the ultimate current more than 25A, thanks.

Hi Zhang,

This is a controller, so the current capability really depends more on the power-stage components.

I recommend using the LM25145 as it has higher performance (better gate drivers, shorter deadtime) and lower cost. It has a similar voltage-mode control architecture. Also, the LM5145 EVM is 5V/20A/225kHz, close to your spec (this EVM uses 80V FETs, whereas you can use 40V FETs and get even lower losses).

Hi Timothy,

Thanks for your kindly comment, and now we wants to rise the output current of TPS40055 to more than 25A, but it is protected when the current high than 15A, so please advise how to close the protect function and we need to test the ultimate current for TPS40055, thanks.

The current limit is just set by the high-side FET Rdson and the ILIM resistor:

As mentioned, use the LM25145 if possible. It will give better efficiency at high output current.
