REF5050: same Vref for multiple ADCs

Hi,

I want to provide voltage reference and VCM (common mode voltage) to a ADC (ADS8900 20 bit ADC) using REF5050, but my design uses 6 of such ADCs will it be suitable to use only one REF5050 to provide Vref and Vcm to all the 6 ADCs.?

Hello Pratik,

Yes, you can use one REF5050 to drive 6 Vref and Vcm.

Please refer the design https://www.ti.com/tool/TIPD211 This uses 4 ADS8900B with one REF50 device. One Vref is driving 4 ADS8900B devices.

For Vcm, the REFOUT from each ADC is divided and buffered to drive the CM. This ensures for each individual ADC the CM tracks the REFBUF output individually.

If 6 buffers for CM is not allowed in your design, you can divide the REF50 output to your required CM, use single buffer to drive 6 common modes.
