Drop of Vneg during high frequency application

Part Number: LMG3410R050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMG3422R050

Hello, i have proble m regarding the LMG3410R050. The GaN-Fet detects a FAULT status since the Vneg voltage drops below the UVLO (see in the picture: red signal: Vneg  / blue signal: Fault detection). This only happens when swtiching frequency is around 1MHz and as in the application node the information is "for MHz application" I expected that wouldn't be a problem for low voltages <100V. All the other voltages are constant.

I just need these high frequencies for less than <500ms in a pulse application so my question is if there is a way to stabilize to voltage to drive these frequencies for a short time?

  • Hi David,

As you can see in these plots for our gen 2 devices, the operation load at 50V is extremely similar to 400V. However, neither can reach as high of a switching frequency as 0V. I believe that these pulses are too long for MHz operation for this exact device. I would recommend looking at our LMG3422R050 device, which is very capable of handling MHz switching.

    Thanks,

    Noah
