LM61495: LM61495 BIAS operation

Part Number: LM61495

Please explain the "BIAS" input operation. Per datasheet it can be either GND or an output voltage up to 12V. I cannot connect it to output voltage because in our application it is 12V+-2%, But we have +5V voltage from  another source, so will be better to connect BIAS to GND, or to +5V?

  • Hi,

The BIAS pin can be used to improve efficiency by having the internal LDO sourced from the external supply as opposed to the VIN. Since you have a +5V voltage from another source, you can have that external source connected to BIAS.

If the BIAS pin feature is not needed, then the simply thing to do is tie it directly to GND.

    Regards,
