Hi team,

Could you please help give some comments about below questions? Thank you!

My customer would like to use 16 LM317 in parallel to power the PA negative. The maximum current per PA negative supply is 0.5A.

1. Can the customer use the multiple LM317 in parallel?
2. LM317 maximum output 1.5A, PA negative power demand 0.5A, may I ask if the margin is sufficient?
2. How to achieve the parallel current balance? Could you please help give some PCB layout suggestions to help achieve the current balance?

    Hi Ivy,

    We do not have any collateral for using this many devices in parallel so I cannot say for sure that this can be done or how to do it, although in theory I think it would be possible. 

    I don't understand why the LDOs cannot be used individually if the current consumption for each PA is less than the load current rating for each device. Why do they want to connect the outputs together?
