TPS560430: frequency foldback

Hi Team,

My customer is using TPS560430YDBVR(2.1MHz version), targeted Vout is 18V, and they are wondering the lowest acceptable Vin to regulate the output.

According to the datasheet, frequency foldback scheme is employed once the TOFF_MIN is triggered, but the figure.17(Frequency Foldback at TOFF_MIN) only shows FSW=1.1MHz.

Does 2.1MHz version device also employ frequency foldback scheme? And what's the lowest FSW TPS560430Y can achieve?

Yes, 1.1M and 2.1M both have frequency foldback scheme, as below Toff=100ns Fsw=2.1M

Hi Elena,

Can both devices achieve 133kHz Fsw if frequency foldback is activated?

The answer is Yes to trigger the frequency foldback, but whether its 133K or around is better to verify on EVM , and the Vin_min would be 1or 2 V different with loading 0 to 600mA.
