BQ25898: REG17 (REG10H) shows VBUS = 5V when the USB was plugged out

Part Number: BQ25898

Hi Team,

My customers use BQ25898E. The input is USB 5V/1A. After plug out the USB, get VBUS = 5V by reading REG17, and REG12 shows no input. What is the reason? Is it correct?

  • Hi Hailiang,

Based off the register log it appears the reason for your observation is the ADC status registers (REG0E-REG12) are not up to date. They indicate Vbus = 5V and charge current = 1A even though Charge Status = "Not Charging."

For ADC to be updated when in one-shot conversion mode the start ADC bit must be 1 (REG02 bit7 = 1) before attempting to read the registers. Otherwise they will not update when all registers are read. When the start bit is correctly set the ADC monitor registers should indicate no VBUS and charge current = 0A when USB is removed.

    Best Regards,

    Garrett
