TPS61070: Application Inquiry

Part Number: TPS61070
Hello Team,
I'm posting on behalf of my customer:
Is it linearly related if at 3.3V, we can draw 600mA current as mentioned in the datasheet,
So can we draw around 367mA current at 5.4V? as per the same power criteria.
Also is there any difference in the values if the current is drawn consistently and for very small instantaneous time.
Regards,
Renan
  • Hi Renan,

Please note that for boost converter, the switch current limit doesn't equal to output current.

If customer needs 600mA load current, they need higher swich current device.

  • Hello Zack,

Good day. My customer wanted to know the difference between switch current and load current with some practical example, whether it is related to time or etc.

    Regards,

    Renan

  • Hi Renan,

In customer's application, 600mA is the load current.

The input voltage/output voltage is written in this thread.

For example, if the Vin is 3.3V, Vout is 5V, load current is 600mA, assume efficiency is 92%, the input DC current = 5V*600mA/3.3V/0.92=0.98A. For boost topology, the input DC current = inductor average current, considering inductor current ripple, the inductor peak current is little big higher than 0.98A.

Switch current refers to inductor peak current.
