Hi Experts,

Good day.

Cx is working on a smart battery management system. Their system requires input from a solar panel and it needs to handle the MPPT. It is described that the BQ25713 supports PV input and MPPT but actually, this chip does not support MPPT.

Any suggestion how we can model the algorithm to be able to handle solar input? Also, do we have simulation model for this part?

A battery charger has multiple control loops and the battery could be a source or a load. Due to the complexity of the charger loop compensation, input adaptor vs. battery and the control loop interactions, the simulation does not simulate the behavior well. We don't support the spice type simulation for battery chargers, but we will continue to provide the best support to application related issues.

I still not found the manner how I will add the mppt. If I add an external chip that support mppt, it can resolve the problem?

You may find a charger supporting MPPT.

BQ25672 is I2C Controlled, 1- to 4-Cell, 3-A Buck Battery Charger with Dual-Input Selector, MPPT for Solar Panels and Integrated ADC.
