Hi,
I am S Sathya shree from HCL Technologies. We have designed TPS74401RGRT with load current of 2.5A for the output voltages of 1.1V, 2.5V, 1.8V, 0.9V. Can we use 3.3V rail for VBIAS instead of 5V.
Please suggest us.
Thanks

Hi,
VBIAS = 3.3V will work for the VOUT = 0.9V, 1.1V cases, but for the VOUT = 1.8V, 2.5V cases the device will be in dropout with VBIAS = 3.3V. In cases where VIN < VOUT + VDO(BIAS) the VBIAS needs to be at least 1.62V (the max rated dropout for BIAS for higher load currents) above VOUT to not be in dropout.

Nick
