BQ34Z100-G1: MaxError at 100% after correct learning process

Hello,

I have finished the learning process according to Ti documentation,

LearnedStatus = 04 MaxError=100%

LearnedStatus = 05 MaxError=3%

LearnedStatus = 06 MaxError=1%

Then I generated the golden file, and checked the SOC values during a discharging battery from 100% to 0% SOC

I find everything is correct except the MaxError in Registers is at 100% all the time. Never goes to 1%

I set the ItEnable ON and Reset previously but not change the MaxError

Is it anything missing for a correct MaxError value?

Hello Jean,

Can you share the BQStudio logs of the data along with the .gg file from before and after the learning? I took a look at the .gg file you shared, updated status is 0x00, which indicates no learning has been completed.

Thanks, I attached the files.

As you can see, Qmax and Ra tables are updated so the learning is ok. Then I changed update status from 6 to 0. And send Itenable

Note: I added two discharge logs after the learning. In the discharge1 file the Maxerror=1% (correct). But in the discharge 2 it is Maxerror=100%

Hello Jean,

The Update Status register does not need to be modified, the gauge will change it's value. If you manually edited the update status to 0x00 then the MaxError will report 100% since the gauge thinks it is not learned. You should always leave the Update Status for the gauge to update.

According to document SLUA903 pag 9, Before saving the Golden File, set Update Status to 02 to disable IT gauging, set the Qmax Cycle Count to 0, and set the Cycle Count to 0.

So I think I should have set to 02, then create the golden file (or set to 06 according to table 16 in gas gauge datasheet) instead of 0,. Correct?

Hello Jean,

Yes, the update status should either be 0x02 when IT is disabled, or 0x06 when IT is enabled and the gauge is deployed and is fully learned.
