LMS1585A: Application Inquiry

Hello Team,

My customer is using PN LMS1585ACS-1.5/NOPB in an application. Per the datasheet, Cout is supposed to be a tantalum cap. So far, since this is an SMT PCBA they are using a ceramic cap. Is that acceptable? What is ESR for PN: LMS1585ACS-1.5/NOPB?

    Hi Renan,

    This older device is not very well characterized and I don't know the range of ESR for stability. I would recommend including a series resistor with the output cap to add ESR. The resistance of this resistor will need to be probably around 1Ω or so but we can't give an exact range.
