BQ27542EVM: BQ27542

Part Number: BQ27542EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hi,

While programming the chemistry of battery, Battery management application is throwing "Chemistry program failed Error code = 772" error, Please help me to resolve this issue.

-Thanks

  • Hello Yuktheshwar,

Usually that means one of two things is happening. Either there is an issue with the communication and the device is not sending an acknowledge, or the gauge is sealed. Can you verify if other communications are working to rule out the possibility of the communication being the issue? And can you verify that the gauge is unsealed? A screenshot of bqstudio's register page would also be helpful. Let me know if this doesn't work for you.

    thanks,

    Alex M.

  • Hi Alex,

    Thanks for the suggestions.

After unsealing the device, I am able to program the chemical ID of battery.

  • Hi Alex,

While calibrating the current, Bqstudio is showing a "Calibration - A read of data written failed comparison " error how can I solve this issue.

    -Thanks

  • Hello Yuktheshwar,

Can you share your procedure? You can't enter calibration while sealed but that usually gives a different error so I don't suspect that is the case. Based on the error, it sounds like there may have been an issue with the data that didn't allow the calibration to succeed. An easy procedure goes like this:

    1. Use calibration tab of BQstudio
    2. Apply a constant current using a power supply/whatever means are available
    3. Enter the value of that current in mA
    4. Check calibrate current box
    5. Hit calibrate gas gauge

Usually when people have issues it is because they are having issues generating a constant load or simply missing the negative sign when doing a discharge. Please confirm that this is roughly your procedure and hopefully we can find the issue.

    thanks,

    Alex M.

  • Hi Alex,

My calibration procedure is like this,

    1> Command: Unseal full access.

    2>Apply load of 500mA

    3> Open the Calibration window.

4> Set -500mA as applied current

5> Tick mark the calibrate current checkbox

6> Click calibrate gas gauge button

    Observed behaviour,

Bq studio tries to calibrate for 5 seconds and shows the error "Calibration - A read of data written failed comparison".

    -Thanks.

  • Hello Yuktheshwar,

Thanks for sharing. Your procedure sounds correct.

Another possibility may be that your cell voltage is outside of the flash update OK range. When you draw the load, what is the voltage on the PACK+/BAT node? If it is below 2800mV, this error can occur.

Also, does BQstudio typically see your currents, even while not calibrated? If you do a discharge, do you see a current reading in BQstudio, even if it is inaccurate?

    Thanks,

    Alex M.
