TPS2663: reverse protection threshold

Part Number: TPS2663

Hi team,

Here is a confusing spec of our TPS2663 that would like to confirm with you.

In the EC table, there is a V(REVTH) spec means rising threshold for reverse protection comparator, and its typical value is -15mV;

however, in the section 9.3.6 Reverse Current Protection, there is another description that mentioned the external reverse protection will be triggered when the  V(IN_SYS) – V(OUT) falls below -1V.

So could you help to clarify which is the reverse protection triggered point and give a little more explannation here?

Thanks

Best regards

Mia Ma

  • Hi Mia,

    The reverse current protection threshold V(REVTH) is -15mV (typ) but the response speed (or delay) of the reverse comparator depends on the overdrive voltage. As you know, larger the overdrive faster the comparator response to turn OFF the external blocking FET Q1 quickly. So, in the explanation, we referred 1V overdrive to highlight the turn-off speed (0.37us max).

    Hope it is clear.

    Best Regards,

    Rakesh
