LM5045: LM5045 - Transient Load Response

Part Number: LM5045
I was doing load transient test for isolated DC-DC converter that is generating 30V from the vin=48V
When continuous transient load in 10khz frequency is applied from the external electronic load, secondary side mosfets is getting failed,
Whether applying the continuous transient load in 10khz(load switching from 0 to 100% at the frequency of 10khz) is the reason for the secondary mosfet failure?
Pls let me know if there is any limit for the frequency at which load at the output can be switched for safer operation..
  • Hi,

The load transient form no load to full load at 100 kHz will be required in most of applications, even some applications require higher frequency, so this test is ok.

Do you look at the output current/voltage waveform, which cause the failure?

And measure the Bode plot of control loop to check if the control loop is designed well?

    Regards,

    Teng

  • Hi Teng,
Replying to --> The load transient form no load to full load at 100 kHz will be required in most of applications, even some applications require higher frequency, so this test is ok..

May i please know in which application, load will be toggled from no load to full load at 100 kHz

  • Hi,

It is a generate test item for power module.

please measure the Bode plot of control loop to check if the control loop is designed well?

    Thanks,

    Teng
