TPSI3052-Q1: Question about Cdiv1,Cdiv2

Part Number: TPSI3052-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPSI3050-Q1, TPSI3052

Hi

It is reviewing the change from TPSI3050-Q1 to TPSI3052-Q1.

In TPSI3050-Q1, Cdiv1 and Cdiv2 values were used the same capacitance value, but in TPSI3052-Q1, three times the capacitance value was used.

Do I have to use a Cdiv2 three times bigger? What's the reason?

Will there be a problem if I use a double the capacitance value?

Thanks

  • Hi David,

Thank you very much for reaching out with these questions.

There are two main differences between these two devices on why we need to increase the ratio of Cdiv1 and Cdiv2.

1- TPSI3052 has 2x ratio from VDDH-VDDM (10V) than from VDDM-VSSS (5V). For this reason, increasing the capacitance ratio to about 3x would help both rails to track while charging.

2- TPSI3052 has an internal LDO for VDDM to reduce the ripple when sourcing auxiliary circuitry. For the stability of the LDO, it is recommended to increase the ratio to 3x to avoid any oscillation in VDDM rail.

We recommend using 3x for CDIV2 in order to track better while charging and to maintain the internal LDO stable.

I hope this answers all your questions. Let us know if there are any further questions.

    Sincerely,

    Francisco Lauzurique
