TLC59108: Alternative for NXP PCA9624

Part Number: TLC59108

Hi Team,

may customer is looking for an alternative part for PCA9624:

requirements:

  • 8 channels PWM
  • I2C
  • min 50mA Iout per channel
  • Supply Voltage >=27V

If no part available also lower channel count can be considered.

Thanks

Jan

  • Hi Jan,

For the requirement supply voltage >=27V, no device in our multi-channel devices can do it. TLC59108 is the most closest one.

  • Hi Hardy,

Can you find out how dramatic it would be if the 27V is applied to the output pins instead of the 17V or max. 20V would also be possible?
Would this lead to a destruction of the pins?
Possibly one could protect the outputs by means of Z-diode, which is however no beautiful solution, since thereby a permanent basic current develops.
Therefore it would be interesting for me, what happens if the output pins get a voltage >20V.

  • Hi Jan,

Yes for the voltage applied on output pins which exceeds the maximum rating, we cannot guarantee the safe operation of the device. There have high risk the device would be damaged.
