LMG3525R030-Q1: In which kind of circuit do you recommend GaN driver without diode enumeration mode?

Part Number: LMG3525R030-Q1

Hi team,

In which case do you recommend GaN driver without ideal diode mode? Do you have example reference design including specific circuit topology? (diode enumeration recommended circuit type is clear but not clear for without diode enumeration recommended circuit...)

Regards,
Ochi

  • Hi Ochi,

No matter what, we recommend you look at our non-ideal diode mode device first. IDM requires some careful considerations when operating so we encourage to first design with our LMG3522 before considering the LMG3525. We do not have a reference design that uses the LMG3525 but will be releasing some soon that use lmg3522r030.

    Thanks,

    Noah

  • Hi Noah,

Thank you. However, I cannot understand why "we recommend you look at our non-ideal diode mode device first". If some application needs IDM, I would like to recommend IDM mode at first instead of non-IDM mode device. Because I do not know any circuit or apps which IDM mode device is worse than non-IDM mode device.

This is the reason why I asked you "In which case do you recommend GaN driver without ideal diode mode? Do you have example reference design including specific circuit topology?

    Ochi

  • Hi Ochi,

I want to clarify that this is a GaN FET with an integrated driver and protections. There are no topologies that are enabled due to the IDM feature, which is why we recommend using the non-IDM device unless a marginally smaller deadtime is needed. It is usually recommended in soft-switching topologies and will slightly reduce the deadtime. We do not have any reference designs that use this device and do not plan on releasing any with IDM.

    Thanks,

    Noah
