TPS22954: Using TPS22953 as replacement

Part Number: TPS22954
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS22953

Hi Team,

I have a customer using our TPS22954 and they are asking if it is possible to use the TPS22953 as an alternative to have multiple options for their production. Below is customers schematic for our TPS22954:

They are using the TPS22954 for their design to turn on/off a 3.3V power rail. They are aware of the difference between both parts where the TPS22954 has the Quick output discharge and the TPS22953 has reverse current blocking when disabled.

If they want to use both of  TI parts for their design, they would like to check it is possible and what factors do they need to consider if they will use the TPS22953 in their design?

Thanks!

BR,

Alfred

  • Hello Alfred,

Going from TPS22954 to TPS22953 the biggest effect would be losing QOD. Aside from that if reverse current isn't a concern then there wouldn't be issues using them interchangeably. In your layout you could add a resistor to ground externally on the output side and leave unpopulated if you're worried about not having that discharge path when the device is disabled when using TPS22953.
