About PROCHOT of IDCHG, is this compare between IDCHG pin signal(8 or 16 * (VSRN-VSRP) and REG 0x3DH[15:10]?
Or is this compare between sensed current consumption of RSR and REG 0x3DH[15:10]?
Could you teach which is correct?

Hello Norimichi,
For PROCHOT of IDCHG, it is compared between the IDCHG pin signal and IDCHG threshold set in REG0x3D.
Sincerely,
Adriana Gonzalez Vega
Thank you for your repply. We would like to confirm below.
[About PROCHOT of IDCHG]
(1). If set 16386mA to trigging of IDCHG PROCHOT, set 0x3DH[15-10] to 0x100000, is it correct?
(2). If set 0mA to trigging of IDCHG PROCHOT by setting 0x3DH[15-10] to 0x000000, what is occurr? Is it same as IDCHG PROCHOT disable?
(3). If input current from IDCHG is over 32256mA of more for example 36000mA, is IDCHG prochot behavior no problem?
We affraid that abnormal compared result between IDCHG and REF_IDCHG will been occurred by reaching overflow from 32256mA, etc.
[About PROCHOT of ICRIT]
(4). ICRIT is set as 110% of ILIM2 automatically by IC.
If RAC is 5mohm(max measurement range of input current is 16256mA) and ILIM2 to15872mA,
ICRIT is 15872mA×1.1 is 17459mA on calcuration. However, 17459mA is over from max measuremet range 16256mA of RAC 5mohm.
In this case, Is ICRIT will be set to 16256mA as maximum value ?
Best regards,
I'm sorry, additional question to above (1)~(4).
[About PROCHOT of INOM]
INOM threshold is 110% or 106% of ILIM1. But ILIM2 of Hybridd boost mode trigger is normally 110% or more.
Therefore, if case of use Hybrid boost mode, input current will be reach to INOM.
I don't know useful situation of INOM. What INOM use for?
Hello Norimichi,
1. This is the correct way to set IDCHG threshold to a value of 16386mA.
2. Setting 0mA as IDCHG Threshold would not be the same as IDCHG PROCHOT disable, as it would trigger the PROCHOT when IDCHG value is 0mA.
3. Discharge Current Range is 0-32256mA, therefore Discharge Current cannot be set to a value higher than the max limit of 32256mA.
4. Input Current cannot be set higher than 16256mA. Value will not exceed this range.
5. INOM is the adapter average current, it is 110% of ILIM1. INOM value is based off of ILIM1.

Adriana Gonzalez Vega
Thank you for your reply.
By the way, datasheet description of PROCHOT pin pull up resistor has the 3 kinds as below.
[1]. PIN function of PROCHOT (P.5) 500ohm.
[2]. chapter 8.3.4 PROCHOT diagram(P.22) 50ohm.
[3]. Typical Applications (P.47) R9: 10kohm.
Which is correct? could you teach the recomend value? Or 50~10kohm all no problem?
I'm sorry, we would like to add questions to above.
[About PROCHOT of BATPRSS]
・When /BATPRSSis Low -> High, PROCHOT output 1 pulse (100us/1ms/10ms/5ms).
By the way, could you teach the threshold voltage of /BATPRES of Low to High?
・And also, please teach the deglitch time of PROCHOT of BATPRSS?
・Even if 0x3C[5] (EN_PROCHOT_EXTT ) , is PROCHOT of BATPRESS output only 1 pulse (100us/1ms/10ms/5ms), is it correct?
[About PROCHOT of ACOK]
・When PROCHOT is High -> Low, PROCHOT output 1 pulse (100us/1ms/10ms/5ms).
please teach the deglitch time of PROCHOT of ACOK? (xx us ~ xx us)
・And also, Even if 0x3C[5] (EN_PROCHOT_EXTT ) , is PROCHOT of ACOK output only 1 pulse (100us/1ms/10ms/5ms), is it correct?
Best regards,
Hello Norimichi,
The recommended pull up resistor value for PROCHOT pin is 500 Ohm and pulled to a supply rail of 1.05V.
From Low to High BATPRES will measure ~3.12V
For deglitch time of ACOK, the POR default of this REG0x37[12] is 1.3 sec, if it is not overwritten, the first adapter plugin will have an ACOK deglitch time of 150 ms and all subsequent plugins will have an ACOK deglitch time of 1.3 sec. The PROCHOT event of ACOK is triggered upon adapter removal (ACOK pin HIGH to LOW), there is not specific PROCHOT deglitch time for ACOK as there is for the other events.
Even if Pulse Extension is enabled, the PROCHOT output is only one pulse for either event.
Thank you for your reply.
>The recommended pull up resistor value for PROCHOT pin is 500 Ohm.
ABout PROCHOT pullup, the device(CPU) side recomendation is 1k ohm resistor. Is 1k ohm no problem ?
>From Low to High BATPRES will measure ~3.12V
I'm sorry. Could you teach the spec of BATPRES threshold by wrtiting to XXX of below , please?
/BATPRES Rising Threshold(Battery absent): Typ. XXX , MIN XXX, MAX XXX,
/BATPRES Falling Threshold(Battery present): Typ. XXX , MIN XXX, MAX XXX,
Best regards,
Hello Norimichi,
Selecting 1kOhm presents no problem as PROCHOT pullup.
BATPRES does not have a threshold. It is an edge signal. We can pick 50% level as the threshold.
Sincerely,
Adriana Gonzalez Vega
Thank you for your reply. I will use 1k ohm.
Besudes, about /BATPRES, I made new thread about /BATPRES port for our understanding.
I'm sorry we have question about PROCHOT.
1. Is PROCHOT of ACOK and /BATPRES able to keep the PROCHOT pin voltage low until host write 0x3C[2]=0?
We would like to check just to make sure.
Because this function is very important for our system.
2. You commented that PROCHOT of ACOK has not the deglitch time. During the PROCHOT pin voltage low(one pulse) by trriged ACOK, if ACOK level is changed H <-> L by chattaring, what is occur?
3. Could you teach the Output Satuation Voltage and drain currrent at 1kohm, please?
We would like to need it, for check that connect device can decide High and low correctly.
4. About deglitch time of ICRIT, INOM, IDCHG, etc.,
Please teach the tolerance of deglitch time, 100us +/- ?? % etc.
Best regards,
Hello Norimichi
1. When any event in PROCHOT profile is triggered, PROCHOT is asserted low for minimum 10 ms (default REG0x3C[4:3]=10). At the end of the 10 ms, if the PROCHOT event is still active, the pulse gets extended. If PROCHOT pulse extension (REG 0x3C[5]=1) is enabled, this will extend the pulse, keeping pin voltage low until 0x3C[2]=0 for all trigger events.
2. Chatting is ignored in the 10ms PROCHOT min width.
3. Drain Current can be estimated as Vprochot/Rpullup. The saturation voltage will be lower than 300mV.
4. We do not have tolerance for this parameter.
Sincerely,
Adriana Gonzalez Vega
Thank you for your help.
>2. Chatting is ignored in the 10ms PROCHOT min width.
(1). Is above "Chatting is ignored the 10ms" as same as PROCHOT of BATPRES also?
(2). When PROCHOT pulse extension (REG 0x3C[5]=1), and during PROCHOT pin is keeping voltage low until 0x3C[2]=0,
If ACOK level is changed H <-> L by chattaring, what is occur?
Best regards,
Hello Norimichi,
Please allow some time for further research on your questions. I will update you by Tuesday.
Sincerely,
Adriana Gonzalez Vega
Hello Norimichi,
ACOK and BATPRES events are similar, they are both edge type triggering events. ACOK will generate a pulse when ACOK level changes from H <-> L, BATPRES will generate a pulse when BATPRES level changes from L <--> H. BATPRES does not have a deglitch time, while ACOK does.
When ACOK level changes from H <-> L, a PROCHOT event is triggered. If PROCHOT pulse extension is enabled, PROCHOT pin is kept voltage low until PROCHOT_CLEAR (0x3C[2]) = 0. If a triggered event is active, and the host tries to write to the PROCHOT_CLEAR bit, it will be ignored and the PROCHOT pin will remain low. The host will be able to successfully write to PROCHOT_CLEAR bit when no triggered event is active.
Sincerely,
Adriana Gonzalez Vega
About PROCHOT port Vout_LO_PROCHOT(Output Satuation voltage), 17mA drain current's spec is 300mV as page 14 Electric Characteristics.
1. Could you teach the below diagram condition's Vout_LO_PROCHOT(1.05V, pullup 1.1kΩ), please?
Because connected device's IOL is very low. We would like to know that it is the 100mV or less at least.
Drain current 1.05V/1.1kΩ=0.955mA≒1mA
SPEC is 300mV@17mA drain current
Therefore, Satuation voltage is 300mV×1mA/(1mA+17mA) =16.7mV≒20mV or less? Is it correct?
2. If you have the below red circles impedance spec, please teach the it.
Best regards,
Hello Norimichi,
1. This estimation approach is correct. You can expect saturation voltage to be around 20mV or less for 1.05V/1.1kOhm.
2. Could you please provide more information regarding the usage of the spec you are inquiring about?
Sincerely,
Adriana Gonzalez Vega
I'm sorry, please teach the below as soon as possible, please?
About the above description, when peak power mode is enable,
As below diagram, INOM is not trigged during TOVLD, and after TOVLD, if INOM value is exceeded deglitch time from after TOVLD, is PROCHOT of INOM trigged (at after TOVLD + elapsed deglitch time) ? Is it correct?
Best regards,
Hello Norimichi,
Following the description. It is correct that INOM will not trigger during TOVLD. Once the Peak Power Overload Period and deglitch time has passed, INOM event may can be triggered.
Sincerely,
Adriana Gonzalez Vega
