BQ40Z50-R2: Chip is not communicating

HI,

On our 4s4p Set up, we completed the Learning cycle and was in the process of saving the Golden filed to our system. All of the sudden we lost the SMbus communication and found the board is not communicating

The board looks like in shutdown state and we have in same state 3 boards. I am share our Schematic, pls suggest whats the issue.

The schematics show a bq40z55, not a bq40z50. Please clarify which part you are using.

Hi Dominik, we are using Bq40z50, in next release will correct the schematic typo mistake.

If anything goes wrong during .srec extraction or programming, the gauge will stop running its regular firmware but it is still possible to program the firmware (e.g. with a known good working one). If you can hook up the EV2400 to the gauge in your system, then you can launch bqStudio, select the bq40z50 from the dialog (bqStudio won't auto-detect the gauge if it's not running the regular firmware) and then you can use the programming option to write a known good .srec to recover the gauge. Note that this will only work with bq40z50 FW on bq40z50 devices.

HI ,

Tried with bq40z50Fw, getting error of "Read srec: No Acknowledge from Device " at bottom left corner for BQstudio. Please suggest what shall be the problem.

Hi, Issue Got Resolved. The Issue was in the EV2400, the Diode D2 in SMbus Ckt was burnt. Just removed the diode and our board started communicating.
