UCD90124: License problem from customer!!!!

Part Number: UCD90124

Hi team,

Recently, our customers ask us is there any license problem on UCD90124 Firmware Image within our products in deployment ? 

Normally, they don't thinks there is any problem since they purchased your UCD90124. And they and their customers can use it directly and no any license problem, is it correct ? 

In addition, could you also provide this UCD90124 license agreement or announcement for our reference ?

    Hi

    There is no license on the firmware as long as customer purchases the part from TI legal distribution system.

    What's the question here?

    The original question is Can end customer update the UCD firmware on purchased products ? And we got your response "There is no license on this UCD firmware".

    The last question, do you have any license agreement or file with "There is no license on this UCD firmware" statement ? Thanks.

    Hi

    Customer shall not updated the firmware until they get the instructions from TI and we do not support any (including update firmware) if customer buy the UCD parts from non TI legal distribution

    Please share what customers want to do.

    Do they purchase the part from legal TI channels?

    After checking with customer, they just want to get YES or NO answer for this topic "There is no license on this UCD firmware" this statement.

    So there is no license requirement for our UCD firmware and the answer is Yes, am I right?

    Hi

    No license means that they can use the firmware for themselves and but they can not share the firmware file to others

    I need know what they are trying to do before answering this.

    Basically, we purchased the UCD parts through TI legal distribution, and we designed the UCD firmware by ourselves via your tool (TI provided to us), then we released this UCD firmware to end customer for updating UCD firmware on purchased products. We would like to confirm is there any license problem on releasing UCD firmware to end customer ?

    Hi

    So what you called firmware is the setting file generated from fusion GUI instead of the code preload by TI during the IC fabrication. That's the configuration belonging to customers who develop it.

    We do not call that firmware instead it is user configuration.

    The owner of the user configuration can decide who they want to share.
