UCC21520: Question about UCC21520 EVM circuit

Hi Team,

We see that there is one 600V diode and resistor(D1/R15) in serial as below picture shown for UCC21520 EVM circuit, may I know what's the purpose for them? Do we need to add them for customer's circuit design?

Hi Jacky,

This EVM is designed for multiple configuration options. These footprints are for a bootstrap diode and resistor. So, the customer only needs to populate them if they are interested in evaluating the device in a half-bridge bootstrap configuration. There is more information about choosing bootstrap components in the device's datasheet's Application and Implementation section.
