TPS552882-Q1: Output current limit >6.35A

Hi team,

I would like to use the TPS552882-Q1 at following condition, but I found the output current limit function is limited to 6.35A in the datasheet.

Is there a way to further increase the current limit value by using smaller resistor value or increase ISP-ISN threshold?

VIN=14V (automotive battery)

Vout=7V

Iout=7.5A maximum

Thanks for reaching out on E2E.

For TPS552882, the output current limit is programmed with the sensing resistor between ISP and ISN. If 7.5A output current limit is used, then 6.8mΩ(=50mV/7.35A) sensing resistor is needed.

Is there minimum current sense resistor value used for current limit?

It seems shorting the ISP-ISN will disable the current limit, so I would like to know if there is minimum resistance between ISP and ISN.

Hi Shinji,

We don't have minimum current sense resistor value. The current limit value is set by 50mV/Rsense, so smaller resistance gets higher current limit.
