TPS386596: Power Monitoring IC Recommendation

Hi,

I am looking for a voltage monitoring IC which can monitor all the power rails in the board.  Monitoring is required to ensure rails applied to a given IC are valid before lifting reset.

Rails Requirements are as below:

Rail 1: 0.84V (Core)

Rail 2: 0.84V (IO)

Rail 3: 1.8V

Rail4: 3.3V

Please suggest a Monitoring IC for the same.

    You can use TPS37044BJOFDDFRQ1. This has adjustable threshold of 0.8V and you can configure it using resistor ladder.  Can you please provide more details as what is your power and area budget, what is the accuracy level you are looking for ?

    Thank you for your response.

    I will be using this IC to monitor all the voltages of my major FPGA. Hence I am looking for accuracy of 2.5%.

    Whether all four sense voltage thresholds can be adjusted? I have two rails to monitor 1.8V and 3.3V. Can your suggested IC support the same.

    I don't have any particular area requirement.

    Also can you please let me know how is TPS386596 different from TPS37044

    Thanks for the details. Both the ICS will work fine based on your accuracy requirement and both can support your thresholds.  The key differences are - 

    • TPS3704 offers 4 different RESET pins incase you want to check the exact rail which has failed. If you want to report just failure on one pin then you can go with TPS386596.
    • TPS3704 offers window monitoring, whereas TPS386596 offers only UV. 
    • If you want to use MR functionality then choose TPS386596.

    If my understanding is correct, I can adjust the threshold voltage for Sense pin using resistor divider.

    Since one of the requirement of monitoring voltage is 0.84V, can I connect 0.84V directly. 

    Also the sense pins have tolerance of 4%. Can you please suggest an IC which has less tolerance.

    My core power has Vin(min)=0.82V , Vin(typ)=0.84V, Vin(max)=0.86V. It has tolerance of 2.5%.

    So can you please suggest an alternate IC, which has less tolerance. 

    Also can this IC be used for Defense application.

    TPS3704 is windows comparator and window tolerance is 4%. The reset will be assert if output goes more than OV =832mV or less than UV=768mV on the sense pin with the accuracy of 1% over the temperature.  You can choose resistor with 1% tolerance  and get close to 2% accuracy. 

    You can choose TPS386596 with 1% resistor tolerance if you want to monitor on UV.
